St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell announced on May 14 that the Sheriff’s Office responded to 56 complaints in the past 24 hours and reported the arrest of Cameron Paul Rodrigue, age 20, from Bourg, Louisiana.

The report states that Rodrigue was arrested on May 13 at 8:25 a.m. for two counts of child sexual abuse material and seven counts of sexual abuse of an animal.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a patrol deputy was called to a residence in Bayou Vista on January 3 after receiving a complaint about indecent correspondence with a juvenile through a phone. The deputy began an investigation into the incident. Detectives later identified Rodrigue as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

On May 11, authorities made contact with Rodrigue at another agency and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. As detectives continued their investigation, they discovered digital files belonging to Rodrigue which led them to obtain another warrant for additional charges involving child sexual abuse material and sexual abuse of an animal.

Rodrigue remains incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, and bond has not been set for these additional charges.
