The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on May 13 the arrest of two individuals in separate cases involving serious criminal charges.
These arrests are significant due to the nature of the alleged offenses, which include second-degree murder and multiple counts related to child sexual abuse material. The sheriff’s office said these actions reflect ongoing efforts to investigate and prosecute high-profile crimes in the community.
According to Sheriff Gary Driskell, Stephanie Nicole Albritton, age 40 from Brookhaven, Mississippi, was arrested on May 12 at 4:59 p.m. on a warrant for second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. The case began on April 26, 2021 when deputies responded to a Centerville residence where Mark Morgan was found unresponsive and later declared deceased by ambulance personnel. On May 11, new evidence suggested foul play may have been involved in Morgan’s death. Detectives traveled to Brookhaven to speak with Albritton; following this interview and further investigation, a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was transported back to St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking with bail set at $950,000.
Driskell also reported that Henry Rabelo, age 42 from Patterson, Louisiana, was arrested on May 13 at 7:13 p.m., facing a warrant for possession of child sexual abuse material (492 counts) and sexual abuse of animals (6 counts). Detectives executed a search warrant on April 13 that led to Rabelo’s apprehension; subsequent investigation uncovered additional images leading detectives to obtain warrants for more charges against him.
Sheriff Driskell thanked the Lincoln County (Mississippi) Sheriff’s Office and Brookhaven Police Department for their assistance in Albritton’s case. He said the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office remains an affiliate of the Louisiana Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce—a network focused on investigating high-tech crimes against children—and encourages parents or guardians concerned about online safety or suspicious activity to visit www.stmaryso.com or MissingKids.org.
The sheriff’s office reiterated its commitment through these arrests by continuing collaborative law enforcement efforts aimed at protecting local residents.
