7.3% of St. Mary Parish residents considered unemployed in 2021

St. Mary Parish recorded an unemployment rate of 7.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 1,556 people out of the 49,818 living in St. Mary Parish at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in St. Mary Parish has increased compared to the 6.7% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in St. Mary Parish was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.7%.

Of the 19,665 people who had a job during that time, 58 were employed in the Armed Forces and 19,607 belonged to the civilian labor force.
