There were 9,388 students enrolled in Vermilion Parish School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 2.1% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.1% of them were boys, and 48.9% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 70.1% of the Vermilion Parish School District total enrollment.

Vermilion Parish School District covers approximately 20 schools within Vermilion Parish, with its main office in Abbeville.

Among the 20 schools in Vermilion Parish School District, Cecil Picard Elementary School at Maurice recorded the highest enrollment of 833 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021-22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
