There were 618 ninth grade students enrolled in St. Mary Parish schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.9% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Morgan City High School welcomed the most ninth grade students in the parish.

Within St. Mary Parish schools, the most students were found in first grade classes, while fifth grade classes were the smallest.

Statewide, St. Mary Parish ranked 21st highest in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 22nd highest the year before.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
