Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 15% of St. Mary Parish School District’s student body in 2021-22 school year

There were 1,197 Hispanic students enrolled in St. Mary Parish School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 8.9% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that St. Mary Parish School District welcomed 7,971 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 15% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the district.

St. Mary Parish School District roughly covers schools within St. Mary Parish and has a main office in Centerville.

Among the 22 schools in St. Mary Parish School District, J. S. Aucoin Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 194 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021–22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
